Deacon Mark Komula is a Roman Catholic permanent deacon, writer, speaker, and the author of The Long and Winding Road: From Cultic to Catholic, a memoir of faith, doubt, searching, and conversion.
Mark was raised in an insular religious tradition in which he was taught that he had found the fullness of truth. But over the course of decades, questions he could no longer ignore set him on an unexpected journey - one that eventually led him into full communion with the Catholic Church.
His story did not end with conversion.
It led to a vocation.
In 2021, Mark was ordained a permanent deacon in the Roman Catholic Church.
Today he serves the Church while continuing to write and speak about faith, conversion, Scripture, Catholic life, and the often-unexpected ways God leads people toward truth.
Along the Winding Road grew out of that journey.
Here Mark shares stories, reflections, and lessons learned along the way - not from the perspective of someone who has everything figured out, but as someone who has learned that following truth requires the courage to keep walking when the road changes beneath your feet.
